As you may recall, a while back I mentioned that this time of year is crazy. Well, that's why I haven't posted anything in nearly a month. (By the way, the allotted time for procreation, per an earlier post, is nearly over, so hop to it if you have plans!). Anyway, here's a quick update on the latest in my life.
Serve Weekend at our church is in one week and I just today had to cancel my project. I was going to be leading a small team of people to help fix up the patio of the teachers' lounge at Hillview Middle School (where I graduated from in 1990 and first danced with Traci). However, when the principal requested a couple of damaged boards to be replaced, they replaced the whole fence. There was nothing else she could think of us to do since she only had an hour left before spring break began and was talking to me while she was in a meeting. Oh well.
Another fun experience today was applying for my passport. We recently booked a cruise for this summer that we will be going on with another couple from the family...all without the kids! I like to thing of it as going back to my roots...well, ok, maybe not, but am 1/8 Mexican. (Random fact: I'm also 1/8 German and 1/64 Black!) The cruise will go to San Diego, then Catalina Island and then Ensenada, Mexico. I've never been on a cruise, so it will be fun. I did go whale watching for a field trip back in 5th grade, though and that was a ton of fun! (Ah, the days when California had some money for their schools.)
Of course, today is good Friday and Easter is Sunday. (Random fact: Easter can be no earlier that March 22 or later than April 25!) It's always exciting to celebrate the reason we can be reborn. It's also fun to have the confetti back at church this year. It just adds to the celebratory atmosphere of Easter at our church. While I know I don't deserve anything I have, I am glad that God loves me enough to think so. It's at busy time like this that I don't spend enough time thinking about that and how blessed I am to have a God that loves me enough to give me the greatest wife and two best daughters in the world!
Next weekend will also be very exciting as the 4 of us and my parents will be heading to the Los Angeles Coliseum for a charity pre-season game between the Dodgers and and defending World Series champion Red Sox. It will probably be the craziest baseball experience I have ever had as attendance is expected to be about 110,000, which will set an all-time single-game baseball attendance record, and possibly a single-event Coliseum attendance record. Let's hope I survive.
If I do survive that, let's hope I'm strong enought to make it through the paintball event our Sunday School class has on April 19. It will be an all-day private party (assuming we can get 30 people to go) at SC Village in Corona. My poor paintball gun has been calling since the last time we went. Fortunately, I've packed it in the garage so it's not easily accessible when the kids get out of line! (I'm kidding, of course.)
That's all for now. I'll try to be better at this, but March is usually the "calm" before the storm that is April...and March has been crazy!

I know! Isn't it weird how March has been so crazy too? Usually it's calmer than this before April rolls around. Probably because Easter was in March this year. I'm so thankful that God has put you in all of our lives too and we are very blessed to have you (as a father and a husband to me). We love you!
